Growth Spurt
« on: January 08, 2011, 12:34:34 pm »
I'm confused. We've worked on getting our sleepy, reflux 10 week DD on Easy and for the last3 weeks we were managing 3 hours during the day, cluster feeding every 2 from 4pm and down to 1 feed (occasionally 2) between dream feed and morning. But for the last couple of days, our usual easy baby is difficult to read. She has woken up erratically from naps and during the night and seems to be chomping away on her hand and dribbling all day. She is completely refusing her pacifier and just switches it from 1 side of the mouth to the other. Mum seems to think that she's teething! But I think she's on a growth spurt. She wants to feed every 2 hours and empties both breasts!! What am I supposed to do? I'm going back to work on Tuesday. I will be able to feed her at lunch time but otherwise she will be given bottles of expressed breast milk. I thought I was on track to knowing how many bottles to do. Help!!

I would think that you should be fine as long as you are feeding on demand during this growth spurt. Feeding on demand during the growth spurt should up you supply enough. After the gs she will probaby get back on track with the 3 hrs between feeds and cluster feeds. I would pump extra during this weekend and on Monday just to increase your stash.
