Almost 3yo bedtime antics. OT or UT?
« on: January 15, 2011, 20:48:23 pm »
Dh and I are having huge fights about this! Ds is almost 3. I work 3 days and he goes to nursery. When we are at home we either have a nap or we don't.

Nap day
Wake 7ish
Sleep 1 til 2.30
Bed at 8

No nap day
Wake 7ish
Bed at 6pm

The problem is nursery days when they say he sleeps from 12 til 1. We aim for a 7pm bed but he messes around loads and doesn't sleep until 8pm at the earliest. We do exactly the same wind down but where he is usually so easy going to bed, these nursery days are not nice.

Anyway, one of us thinks that this is all because he sleeps for an hour at nursery and isn't tired when he goes to bed (ie UT). The other of us thinks it's because nursery is really hectic and the early nap means he is OT by bed time.

So can I ask what you think?

Ta

Is he sleeping soundly at nursery, or is he just quiet? Restorative sleep = nap; laying there queitly and half-dozing possibly = may as well have not napped. Can the staff give you more details?

They say he sleeps. I will quiz more next week as I really don't believe they get him to sleep by 12. But in the meantime, do you reckon OT or UT? I want to win the argument with dh!

From my camp I'd say UT given what we've been having more of recently...  but that's just my crazy DS ;)
