3 week old on EASY
« on: January 15, 2011, 11:52:52 am »
I have my three week old on EASY routine.  She is always sleepy and falling asleep while eating however she naps really well during the day and I always wake to feed every three hours.  In the evenings I cluster feed and dream feed and she wakes at 2 a.m. and then not till 6:30 a.m. at which point I start the EASY.  This morning she was hard to put down after 2:00 a.m feed and then she woke at 5:30 a.m.  My question is do I then start the A after the feed?  Or is it too early?  Do I wait till 6:30 and feed her again and then start the activity?

Hey there hun, congrats for the new baby :)

Great job on wanting to start EASY early on, however, I'd recommend following a loose setup till around 6~7 weeks, as lo(s) really tend to have very hight sleep needs during those early days.

To answer your question, yes you'd start your day at 06.30, with the aim of having 12 hrs day/night, depends on when your household wants to start the day really.

Here are a few links that would give you some ideas about how to start off:

Hiya,

Thanks for the response!  I actually started the day we got back from the hospital because my LO had mistakened day for night and was up all night and sleeping all day.  I followed the routine in the book where Tracy says when she robs day for night to cluster at 5 and 7 and DF at 11 and to feed every 3 hours and nap 1 1/2 hours.

My schedule looks something like the EASY for four week olds in the book except of course much shorter because the A never lasts for longer than 15-20 minutes.  I know I'm expecting a lot from my LO and I have so many questions.  My sister had recommended the BW book to me and I follow it like a bible.  I really would like to start my day at 7:00 however so does that mean if she wakes at 6:00 and I feed her I should put her right back down and wake to feed her at 7:00 then?

Well, I would start the day at 06.00 as would fear that she would treat that last sleep as a nap, and might also not feed very well at 07.00 :)
