5 month old has been waking every hour for the past 6 weeks

Help! My 5-month old wakes every hour! He sleeps for about 12 hours at night and wakes 9+ times.  I nurse him only if it's been at least 2 hours or more since he'd last eaten. He has been going to bed awake and I've started to let him cio at nap time. This seemed to have helped him at night, but things have slowly reverted back to the hourly wakings.  He takes 3 or 4 30-min naps during the day every 2 to 2.5 hours.  Not sure if the naps could be part of the night time bit.  Sometimes he wakes crying other times is a slow rustle until he wakes. More often than not, when he wakes in the am he's still tired. Through the night I can tell he wants to go back to sleep and that he's really trying but really struggles. Any thoughts!? I'm not sure how much longer I can take of this. This has only been going on for the past 6 weeks or so. Prior to this, he was a good sleeper. As a newborn he'd commonly sleep for 3 to 4 hours at a time.

Hi, I am sorry you are struggling.

We don't recommend CIO here.

Since you have been using CIO, there may be issues with your LO trusting that you will return.

Methods that we use to get our LO's to sleep are:
Sssh/ pat and PU/PD

What is your EASY like?  Can you post it?

Also, do you think your LO is teething or in pain?
