Why does it all go wrong in the afternoon!?
« on: February 13, 2011, 18:42:56 pm »
Hi All, I have DD 11 weeks and DS 27months. DS was a 'baby whisperer' baby and is the best sleeper so no probs there!

We seem to be getting the hang of the EASY schedule again 2nd time round, however I am having REAL issues getting DD to nap in the arvo's. This leads to fraught bedtimes with an OT baby and no dinner as she has been grumpy all arvo!
We are hoovering between a 3hr and 3.5 hr EASY at mo. This is a typical day:

7.30am E (bottle fed as of 2 weeks ago after being EBF)
8.30 S 2 hr nap
10.30 E
11.30 S 2 hr sleep (30mins A time - faffing around before feeding! )
2pm E
3pm Attempted S with SHh/pat (we do a firm hand on chest and very low shhh as any more makes DD worse!)
3 - 3.30 S 30min nap so 1.5hrs A time before next feed
5pm E
6pm attempted S, however as had long A time before 5pm feed was very tired so too to bed
6.15 E
6.30 S
3am E
Then again 7.30am E

So really its about the afternoon nap which either does not happen or is short! Any tips and ideas please?
With my DS I can really only leave him for 20mins max as he's into everything so its just getting more snd more difficult!

O and just to add my DS has a nap from 1pm to 3pm each day so any advice on syncronising those would be good too!

Can you APOP her for that last nap in order to make sure she's not getting too OT before bedtime?  Apart from that last nap she looks like she's on a great routine so well done!  As for synchronising naps, it's great when it works out but it doesn't always work that way!
