painful spot on nipple
« on: February 12, 2011, 14:08:55 pm »
Hello! My son is 7.5 months old and I breastfeed.

Starting from 1.5 days ago, there's a very painful spot on my left nipple.
It looks like a tiny blister broken.
It's painful when I touch it even very lightly. It's painful when the bra touch it.
It's really very painful when I feed.  :'(

Except this painful spot, everything seems normal.
And everything is fine on the other breast.

Any idea what's happening and what should I do?
Please help!

Ouch, sounds like what I had when I had thrush, probably a good idea to see a doc, I was prescibed a cream to go on the nipple and when dd breastfed she would get it in her mouth in case she had thrush too  :)

Hey there,
It could be a milk blister too... they can be very painful... (I remember them well ;) )

have a read and let me know what you think. Going to the doc is not a bad idea either, if it's thrush you'll need treatment and so will your LO.

Thank you moms!
It's more like milk blister. Hope it'll get well very soon.

I had milk blisters too...I did nice warm showers and put nipple cream like lansinoh with a breast pad and within 2-3 days it would open up and squirt milk for what seemed like forever!  I would also just kind of scratch my nail over the spot to exfoliate the skin when I got out of the shower.

I got 3 of them within a month and a half and then never got anymore.

Hope it gets better quick!!
