5 months too young for 2 naps??
« on: April 11, 2011, 16:19:10 pm »
We have been working so hard at getting my LO to take decent naps. Well it may have just been an off day, but yesterday he took a 2 hour morning nap and then a 2 hour afternoon nap. I had to wake him after 2 hours in the afternoon. Then he stayed awake until bedtime. So I'm wondering if he is old enough to move to 2 naps a day, if he continues taking 2, 2 hour naps. Or would these 2 long naps mess with his night sleeping? He did wake an extra time last night. I gave him his night feed at 10:30 when he woke (this is normal) But then I had to get up with him at 3:30 this morning to feed. He hasnt done that in months. The other possibility to his waking to feed at 3:30 is I am having a hard time getting him to eat during the day. He just never seems hungry, I've been wondering if I need to take him into his bedroom where its very dark in order to get him to eat, as he is a highly spirited baby. Please let me know what you think. Thanks all

My spirited dd gave up the catnap early, before 6 months I think so I don't think it is a problem as long as he feeds enough during the day. She never ever took 2 2hr naps though, you are so lucky!!

Well, I thought he was ready. But yesterday was terrible. He had a 1.5 hour nap in the AM. Then I guess I didn't do WD soon enough cause he got OT and only slept 30 minutes in the pm . I ended up giving him 4 naps, all very short and putting him to bed about 6:45 to start a new day. BUT OH NO !! he's only been down for 1 hour 15 minutes this morning and he just woke up. Whats going on? I tried to keep him up for 2 hours 15 minutes this morning but he just couldn't make it and only stayed up for about 2 hours. (sob)(sob) not another day of crying please Lord.

I left him him in bed till it had been 2 hours, so now I guess I need to watch his cues carefully to see if he can stay up 2 more hours before his next nap. I keep thinking off and on that he may be teething, but IDK its confusing.
