Nap time
« on: April 14, 2011, 13:41:00 pm »
Hi,

I have a 3 hr routine going with EASY. It goest something like 6am-E.6.30-7.10-A, S-7.10-9.00 (Y-the same time)
My question is:  the E time should be at 9am, if my baby is still sleeping, do I wake her up? I have been so far. She seems ok, and sometimes she goes straight back to sleep after E.

I just wondered what you do if your baby is sleeping and it's time for feed.

My daughter is 5 weeks old.
Thanks

hi there

i always woke my DS cos it got him in a pattern so much better and kept feeds consistant but some mums dont wake - I tried letting him sleep in but it can make the rest of the day end up a bit weird - the timings worked really great for me!

best of luck - sounds like she is doing really well on it!!

are you getting good naps throughout the day? the only thing I might suggest is that 1 hr 10 awake may be a little too long for her thats why she falls straight to sleep when eating...

my DS was doing 1 hr 10/15 at around 10 wks - he still only does 1 hr 20 first A time now at 14 wks!!!!

Personally, I always woke to eat as I wanted to get the bulk of DS' calories in during the day AND to make sure that the long stretches of sleep came at night.  If LO has had a rocky nap (difficult to settle or moving around a lot), then maybe an extra 15-20 minutes is okay.  Even now that DS is almost 2 and has been on one nap for almost a year, I still don't let him sleep later than 3/3:15 in the afternoon, in order to preserve bedtime.

Your LO might be a high sleep needs baby (and most 1 month olds do sleep quite a bit still).  I would say that capping naps at 2-2h15 is okay, and your LO should be able to handle a full A time after a nap like that.
