Mucus LOTS of mucus

We have had a very miserable baby she hasnt been like this since she was on soley neocate

no signs of teething, or ot, or anything

We have had alot of poop today! I just changed the last one, she has gotten the burnt bum and huge strings of mucus the last one it was pretty much poop coloured mucus!

but now im really at a loss, we have always had a bit of mucous with the neocate but this is the worst the mucus has ever been even when she had dairy

nothings changed, we havent attempted weaning yet she is just on neocate if we had of attempted any foods or if i was still breast feeding i would think it was something she was racting to but its just neocate

There are some lo's that don't do well on neocate. It is unusual but not unheard of for a baby to react to neocate. I would ask a health professional about it as its obviously causing your dd distress.

if she has issues with neocate though there isnt an alterntive is there? I thought it was impossible to react to it,

It was just today she has been very off, if tomorrows the same then i dunno, my peads secutary is away so getting hold of him is a nightmare (usually you leave message, the secutary passes it on and then he decides) and after 2 great weeks of weight gain we dont see our hv till next week now (she is the best one to see she always manages to get through to the pead, the drs just write and it takes a while)

Or could our dietion help?

maybe today was a one off though which would be okay but i dunno that amount of mucus and like i said it was just huge strings big think ones too

everytime i think we are getting sorted she seems to like to mix it up *slaps head*

Could she be getting a cold - hence all the mucous?

Some LOs are in fact intolerant of Neocate. It's not common but can/does happen if they have a corn allergy I believe?

she isnt sniffly or showing any other signs of a cold

I was considering starting to wean her but went off the idea and now i think i made the right choice

If it carrys on ill try phoning the dietion i think, i know i will get through to them

I am not sure what alternatives are available i the UK. My ds did ok with neocate so I did not look into it. I know there is an elemental formula called elecare but I don't think its available here in the UK.

I hope it is something else causing this and things get better soon.

I had a quick google and elecare looks the same as neocate anyway

Thanx for replying ladies im gunna have to keep an eye if she is still unsettled or it ends up going to blood in her BM's the i guess we have our answer i really hope its not though very selfish i am but not just for her sake but for mine too cause its alot of stress

There are lo's who tolerate elecare and not neocate in the US though so I assume there must be a difference even if only slightly. I also think nutramigen do an elemental formula now to but not absolutely sure.

Just had a look on google and it is called nutramigen AA.

Shes to old to start nutramigen AA now, she was going to have it before when she reacted to normal Nutramigen, but liz told us it tasted even worse so we picked neocate lol where as they made neocate taste okay they didnt bother with nutramigen AA lol

the pead did tell us babys who go from normal nutramigen usually will take the AA but not from scratch older then 3 months lol

Ive had a big google and elecare doesnt seem avalible in the uk

I think for now all i can do is wait and see im really feeling very urrrrrrrg so need to switch off lol
