Smart son!  But definitely get DH to learn to shop.  I'm always amazed at how men manage to go through life not being able to do basic things like shopping, a bit of cooking. It is head-wrecking though, I'm with you on the total aversion to disrupting naps.  I need to be a bit braver about it!  Let's try to do it together :)

PS We don't have a car so my LO hasn't had a lot of practice sleeping in one but I had great success one time when we started driving at his nap time and covered the car-seat so it was nice and dark in there.  He slept pretty well!

Oddly enough I would intentionally go an 45 minutes or an hour out of my way so that I could get my LO to nap in the car on the way there then again on the way home.  So I'd put her in the car at nap time, when we arrived I'd feed her, then shop during her A time and travel home again.  We used the carry car seat though so she'd sleep in there even after I arrived making it more then the 1/2 hour you mentioned.  At around 5 months it does get tricky because they're out of that car seat... so its tricky but I sort of planned my day around it because I refused to stay in the house  ;)  HUGS!!  Hope something works out for you.

Oh, I didn't do my reading, looks like it has worked out -- LOVE the go after the kids are in bed thing -- I actually would do early girls nights that way too.

It has  been helpful to read these posts- As I am desperately trying to get my DS to nap in his crib (he is 3 months old) and running errands and/or taking him for a walk DESTROY our naps... I like the suggestion of getting in the car at nap time, then feeding while you are out and about .  Part of our problem is that the angle of the car seat causes a great deal of spit up so I usually have to wait 30 minutes before I put DS in the car seat.
It adds to my frustration - I have not taken him on a walk -in the Bjorn or stroller- in over 3 weeks  :-[

I LOVED the suggestion from nanaC's son - !  Sometimes we are all in too close to see the solution, right?
Please share any other suggestions as my mom is visiting for Easter and will want to take DS on all sorts of outings
