Hi, i'm new to this- on day 2 of trying shh/pat and PU/PD for my 5 and a half month old- and have a quick question about naps that I can't seem to find the answer to:

If he wakes after 30-45 mins and he is awake but not crying do we stay with him and do shh/pat to try to get him back to sleep for the whole time until the end of his nap time?  And if he starts crying do PU/PD?  Or if he is happy and not crying do we leave him to amuse himself until nap time is up so he learns it's meant to be sleep time and stay in his cot?

Sorry if i'm being dumb!  ???

Thanks!

Yes you are meant to try and extend for the length of the nap using ssh-pat or whatever is working.

What A time is your LO doing?

Does he consistently wake at the same time?
