Cooking in milk
« on: May 25, 2011, 10:58:16 am »
Hi there. My ds is 6 months old and on solids for about a month.  He still poos about four or five times a day so I'm introducing chicken and fish in an effort to cut down on veg a little!  I use the Annabel Karmel recipes and today made cod poached in milk and using the milk when blending - now I'm wondering is it ok to give him this as I know cow's milk shouldn't be given as a drink until one year.

Thanks.

Its fine!  Cooking with cows milk is fine from 6 months.  I use the same book!  My DD1's favourite was spinach and sweet potato blended with milk and I always used cows milk.

You just shouldn't replace usual BFs or FF with cows milk but for cooking is fine x

Ditto.  Can cook in cow's milk and use it for cereals etc after 6 months no probs.
Here's my blog which is focussed on simple food for babies, toddlers and families http://mamacook.blogspot.com/
