Feeding to sleep
« on: June 02, 2011, 04:40:10 am »
Hi there

After the dream feed if baby still wakes once is it okay to feed to sleep? What about if baby wakes twice but you think they are still hungry as only 3 months old? Is feeding to sleep at night okay? What about the last feed of the day is it okay to feed to sleep for that one or is it a no no too. I dont usually feed to sleep for last evening feed I just feed till drowsy but the middle of the night feed I TRY to feed to sleep as otherwise he just won't settle. Please help.

Hi and welcome to BW  :-*

Feeding to sleep does become a prop.   If your LO gets used to it he is going to want mommy everytime he wakes and will want you to help him get back to sleep.   If you would like your LO to fall asleep independantly it will be better to try the shh/pat method to get him to sleep.  Try and have a few minutes of awake time between feeding and going to sleep.  this way he won't associate falling asleep with food or feeding  ;)
