How many bottles per day?!
« on: July 22, 2011, 02:44:44 am »
My little guy is almost 1. He's still on 4 bottles a day b/c he doesn't take much at each bottle. He eats a ton of solids though. I'm wondering where I should cut the milk/bottle feeding. Also wondering if I should do milk with meals now that he's 1 or if I should let him still have it an hour before meals.

His feeding schedule looks like this:
6:00am 5 oz milk
7:00 breakfast (pancakes, toast, fruit, cheerios, etc)
nap
10:00 4oz bottle milk
12:00 lunch (protein and veg)
nap
2:30ish 4oz bottle milk
3:30 snack (fruit)
5:00 dinner (protein and veg)
6:30 4oz bottle mllk

He's getting about 17oz daily. Sometimes he'll do a few more ounces. I think he will easily transfer to a sippy cup. He loves his with water now. I'm just not sure if I should go to milk 3x a day with meals or before meals. And if he's going to 3 servings, should he have more each time? I don't want to give him too much so that he doesn't eat well, b/c he's a great eater. ;)

As he is about to turn one, you can certainly drop/ combine bottles or switch those two daytime bottles to sippy cups of milk with food or as a snack inbetween. From 1 they need around 14oz of dairy and this includes the dairy in their food, most babies drop to 2 bottles around 1 so morning and bedtime.

HTH!
