9.5 month old refusing afternoon nap all of a sudden
« on: July 30, 2011, 15:52:53 pm »
Hi  :)
My LO is 9.5 months and she used to have 2 1.5hr naps a day and recently her afternoon nap has only been about an hour. I was thinking about shortening her morning nap when all of a sudden (3 days in a row now) she hasn't had an afternoon nap. She is tired, but not too grumpy or difficult. She usually plays and talks to herself in her cot or just lies there if she's in the pram. This morning she napped for an hour and wouldn't sleep this afternoon again. I have extended her afternoon A time a little in case she's not tired enough. She is teething at the mo too.
HELP !! ???

Hiya - can't offer you any help as such - but wanted you to know you are not alone!!!  I am in the same situation with my 11mo DS.  He has been EWing for months & we have *finally* managed to get some improvements in that, but now he is refusing his PM nap!!!!    As it happens he's actually been sleeping pretty well at night so I think we may be getting near to dropping to 1 nap.

Might be worth you posting your EASY too, just incase anything obvious jumps out.

I just realised what the date today is which means that she'll be 10 months in a few days!!

Thanks Karen, i read the link so should i try giving her 45 min or 1hr nap in the morning hoping that will help with her afternoon nap. Today she had an hour in the morning and a catnap at 5pm (woke her at 5.30pm for dinner then bed at 7.30pm). It is just so weird that she was never able to stay awake for longer that 4hours max!! and the last few days she's been awake for 7 hours and not too upset about it!

Clairebear, my LO also used to have EW .. so glad to have gotten rid of that!!!

Here is our EASY (as it was before she resisted the afternoon naps):
wake 6am (usually)
bottle 7am
breakfast 8am
nap 9.30am (1.5hrs)
lunch 11.45am
bottle 2pm
nap between 2.30-3pm (1.5hrs)
dinner 4.45pm
bath 6pm
bottle and bed 7.15pm

These times are approximate as she occassionally has a lie-in until 7am!!

Thanks for your advice ladies :-)
