Should my 2 year old drop his nap? Help!
« on: August 11, 2011, 18:47:13 pm »
My two year old (27 months) is having trouble with his nap.  He will often take an hour or two to fall asleep if he does at all.  By the time he falls asleep at 2, I need to wake him at 4.  He then gets put in bed for the night at 8 and will just play until 9 or sometimes 10!  He gets up around 7 in the morning.  He goes to a preschool program on MWF mornings, which often makes him very over tired.  If he does not take a nap, he needs to go to bed at around 6:30 at night.  I would prefer to keep the nap if possible since his dad doesn't get home from work until 6:15 often.  Any ideas on how to get him to nap earlier or at all?  Thank you!

My DD was the same at 24 mths and we moved to a catnap around 1.30, usually on the go as she'd fall asleep easier this way. 45 mins, then 20 mins etc was enough to keep her going and also get a 12 hr + night as otherwise she'd be OTd and get even less sleep in 24 on a no-nap day.

We did it this way and by your DSs age, we were on 13 hr nights only. 7pm to 8am.
