6month LO cant sleep because she can roll!
« on: August 18, 2011, 22:58:34 pm »
DD has started to roll in her sleep, and as soon as she does, she can't put herself to sleep. Any tips?
She doesn't cry when this happens...she just ends up wide awake. She uses a dummy, I still swaddle her (so she can't take the dummy out), although I'd like to stop swaddling her too. I'm happy for her to keep using the dummy (as long as she doesn't keep taking it out!!)
help!

Hmm that's a tricky one. If she's rolling over while swaddled, its probably time to wean the swaddle. Although I have to confess that I am sort of dealing with the same thing. What I usually do is put two rolled up blankets on either side of DD and that seems to help a bit...

today i tried a nap without swaddling and used a sleeping bag instead...she slept 30mins and woke when she'd taken her dummy out! next nap and bed time i swaddled her and put rolled up blankets each side of her like you suggested and it seemed to have worked for now...i wonder how long i'll have to keep rolling blankets for!!!!
she is still a bit unsettled but im putting that down to solids!x thanks

I'm glad it worked for you. It sometimes works for me, and sometimes doesn't. When DD is really determined, she rolls straight onto the rolled up blanket and gets stuck there lol...

I'm not brave enough to wean the swaddle yet, since we have many other sleep issues to work out first :)
