Wake to sleep - was that done right?
« on: August 02, 2011, 20:11:17 pm »
I did the w2s i a bit ago or I should say I tried - went in after 30 min touched her a bit so she would move. She moved her arms , briefly glanced at me and was out again. So now 20 min later i went in to check on her and she looked at me. I turned back around ,came sneaking in from a different side and her eyes were close again. She did move still but settled fast and continued to sleep. Without asking for her dummy! I'm amazed. A) did not want paci back and B) went back to sleep. But I still think I didn't do it quite right...was she supposed to wake up at all??? like she did after 50 min...or is that how it usually goes?

quick update...its 2.5 hrs later and she is still sleeping....  ;D

Sounds like you did fine.  I've never tried it but from what I understand you don't actually want to wake them up, just disturb them a little bit so they go into the next sleep cycle.  Well done and hope it continues!

:) I wasn't really sure about how much to disturb her. So a little bit of movement is ok it seems. And her still waking up after 50 min wasn't bad either I guess since she went back to sleep....
oh I hope I can spread that for every nap every day...her last one today was a 15 min CN...

congrats, sandra, on y our w2s success! :)  It's so great and such a relief when they nap as long as they really need :)!!

have a quick question...at what point did you go in to w2s?  my ds (now 21 wks) was a great napper until we went away on a trip at 13wks.  for 1 month solid we had only 45 min naps.  now we get an occassional (rare) 1.5 - 2 hr nap...but usually only when he's *drastically* tired.  want to give w2s a try, as extending works only sometimes.  just wondering how far into the nap i should go in...?

Thanks!

cdnmominuk - thank you ;)
I went in after 30min since that seems to be the time when they come out of the deep sleep...she was sleeping pretty hard still so I had to ''shake'' her like 4 times very  gently until I got the arms in the air...
I worked today so she didnt sleep at all maybe 1.5 hrs all day...uffff
I put her to bed at 545 when I came home and I don't think Ill wake her up anymore. Ill just wait for her to be hungry.
but tomorrow I m on it again..
good luck to you...Im sure you ll get back to him napping well - since he actually knows how to...

Question - I just did my W2S again. Went in after 30min of her being asleep. Stroked her cheek - she woke up more than I wanted. took me 20 min to put her back to sleep.
Did I break her sleep cycle or do I start from scratch and go in in 30 min again since she woke up too much????
