hey there

sorry its so rough at the moment - I would defo only allow 45 mins for am nap and then make sure even if tired signs come early wait until 3hrs 15 for pm nap...

if that results in a 45 min nap still for pm nap then dont worry just shave 30 mins off bedtime to allow for the short nap.

I went through a hard phase at 9 months - as I said I figured it out by 11 months but 9 months was soooo rough and I remember the only way I got a good pm nap was by doing a 30 min am nap!! by 10 months when things settled I was able to go back to 45 mins am nap cos 30  mins wasnt really enough and she was cranky but it got me through the 9 month sleep regression period...I think no matter what you do babies all go through this horrible 9 months phase - you will get through it! Some mums manage to go back to 2 naps of over an hour each once the phase passes!!

I'm not sure that teething is the problem. Why morning naps are uneffected while afternoon's are terrible? If pain is the problem I think she'd cry every time I put her down. Instead she's waking at the 45 min mark, only in the afternoon.
She's never been easy with go down for naps but she's usually able to calm down in the cot with a few shh-pat, and she is totally independent in falling asleep for the night. Instead when she woke up today she started to scream every time I tried to lay her down. I felt like she wanted to stay in my arms.
I must say that even this morning putting her down was quite hard, she cried a lot. And last night she woke up 3 times (she usually wakes once or twice to drink some water) and the last time she was very nervous and it took her one hour to go back to sleep.
Does this behaviour match with 2 to 1?

With DS first two teeth he nly got upset in the afternoons, this is also when they cut. With these top teeth he seems to get upset at night. So they are all diff and move at diff times.

Personally I am thinking there is something going on with all the crying. This usually means discomfort for us. Maybe a cold or a virus? Sometimes we cant see what is going on esp if they have sore tummies or throats. Have you medicated to see if it makes a difference?

I am also wondering...what is her exact age in weeks? Could be in a developmental leap. There REALLY affect some LOs....

(For example we had 1 week of screaming around 12am, real upset, frightened screaming for up to an hour, then...it just stopped)

You could also have some SA going on, it peaks around now  ::)

What's SA?
I've never heard of wonder weeks before but this could be the case... she is in the 39th week, but she really seems to match the description. Maybe she is a little late or she's having a long WW.
This + teething (she's drolling a lot and keeps on grinding her teeth) + she's about to crawl any minute now... and maybe also the 2 to 1 transition starting... I would be overwhelmed too!

Today I breastfed her just after lunch. I heard her crying a bit after 40 min but she continued to sleep. She napped for 75 min but  she was yawning just an hour later! I let her have a 30 min catnap in the baby carrier but still she was rubbing her eyes sooner than usual...
I hope we will get through this soon  :(

Was she born early/late... wonder weeks are based on their due date not birth date ;)
