W2S with Twins? Any help appreciated!
« on: August 07, 2011, 19:51:31 pm »
Hi all,
Just found the forum today- so forgive me if this information is already covered- I just can't find it! I have 19 week old twin girls. We have been struggling with the 40 min nap for about 6 weeks. Shush-pat is sometimes successful- as is giving them back their pacifier- but most of the time it does not work-or I can't manage it successfully with 2. I'd really like to try wake to sleep or some way of helping them through the sleep transition - but i don't know how i would do it with 2? Right now they are pretty much on the same schedule and will wake within minutes of each other. Any ideas? Any mamas of twins who were able to figure out how to extend naps?

thanks! :)

Oh- Just in case this helps- here is our schedule:

6am wake (lay in crib playing/talking/sucking pacifiers)
7am eat (5 oz)
8am nap  (fall asleep on their own together in cosleeper with me next to them in bed- sometimes i reinsert pacifiers)
845/900 wake
930 eat (5oz)
11ish nap (sleep in nursery in separate cribs, room dark, white noise. 5-10 mins needed to settle them with some crying - as i try to comfort both)
1145/12 wake
1230 eat
200 nap (same routine as 11am nap)
300/400 wake (sometimes both sleep longer, sometimes one will sleep only 40 mins and the other will sleep longer)
430 eat (5oz)
630 eat (5oz)
700/730 sleep
waking at night: midnight, 3am, 4am, etc (give them pacis and they will go back to sleep)

also: they are both swaddled and take pacifiers.

Hi sue.zee.q have a look at the following links about W2S and naps for this age. I will pop back on and see how you are going later today.

At this age the paci is likely to be a prop, and if it falls out and they stir you will need to put it back in until they can do it themselves. It the paci something you want to wean or keep. It is around 6-7 months they can usually replug themselves :-*
