Cereal
« on: August 20, 2011, 19:56:37 pm »
DD2 is EBF but I want to use formula to mix her cereal since I prefer to save my EBM for bottles in the event that I'm not home with her. I don't know much about formula but does it make a difference  if I use powder or premade  formula in the cereal?  Also, once the formula & cereal are mixed, is it ok to then microwave it for a few seconds to warm it or will that do something to the formula?

4 months is early to be starting weaning.  Is there a reason to start so early?  If not you can use cow's milk from 6 months.  If you do decide to start earlier (and I can't talk, I did), you can get some cereals with formula already in them.  I think from memory we used Aptimil creamy porridge which was just add water.  I assume they have something similar in the US?

My ped said to start trying at 4 months. The cereal I have calls for BM or formula.
