W/U & stick to routine or not?
« on: October 05, 2011, 19:39:56 pm »
My 14 month old LO is sleeping great now, thankfully! but I wonder if he needs more sleep or if I should stick wit what I am doing since it works. I feel bad waking him up everytime!

7-wake & nurse
8:15 breakfast
11 lunch
12:15 nap to 2:30
5-dinner
6:45 bath, nurse, brush teeth, book then lights out by 7:30
8 sleeping

So he gets 13-13.5 hrs sleep but would sleep longer in am and at nap. I wake him within 10 min or so of the time to keep him on schedule. I would hope he goes to bed earlier if he needs more sleep, but seems happy with this routine. This morning at 7:10 he was sound asleep and I wondered what would happen if I let him sleep, but we had places to go and had to get up. I don't want him staying up later because he slept longer in the day. WWYD? Should I just try? In my gut I know it will mess up meal, nap and bedtime...

HI there to be honest it sounds like you're pretty much spot on and very in tune with your baby :) Perhaps you could give him an extra 15 mins in the morning if he's sound asleep? He's on a 13 hour day which is fine as it's working for you, but it hopefully wouldn't be a problem to tweak slightly. How adaptable is he? If he's v touchy with sleep then don't mess with it, if he's not then give it a go, 15 odd mins shouldn't be a disaster ;)
