what are your A times for your 2.5 year old
« on: September 25, 2011, 10:51:19 am »
we are in the long, drawn out 1-0 process.   some days we have a 1/2 hour cat nap, others we allow 1.5 hours.  depends on wake up time, if it is a school day or not, etc.  having a hard time figuring out A times when DD has a 1-1.5 hour nap...would love to hear how you are managing A times.  TIA!

Hi there...

2.5 yrs old can be a tricky age for sleep as you are finding out as LO's can handle long A-times & therefore the day can get very long & even after a short nap LO's can handle long A-times to BT. The below link might help:

At 2.5yrs old my DD's day looked a little like this:

WU: 6.30/7am (woke her at 7am if not already awake)
Nap: 1-2pm (woke at an hour)
BT: 7.30pm-ish

I think you're absolutely right to alternate longer/shorter naps, at this age they're unlikely to handle only short naps but always long ones can cause dreaded UT at b/t! I think DD1 was on a 12/13 hour day with a 1 hour ish car nap (we gave up on the bed nap a while back) and some no nap days interspersed xx

E had well dropped the nap by 2.5.

we were doing 10-11 hr days and 13-14 hr nights

7pm sleep on average.

O was in the throes of 1-0 and EWing etc etc

5.30-6am wake
long nap days 1-2.30pm

DD does something like this:

wake 8am
nap 1:30-3pm (I usually have to wake her but if she goes anything more than this it's taking a big chunk off of the night)
bed 8:30pm but takes 15-20 min to fall asleep

Thinking that the nap needs to be cut soon and pushed back because it's taking forever for her to fall asleep at nap time.  These are always such hard steps to take when things were going so nicely. :-\
