twins and a headbanger
« on: September 25, 2011, 09:58:17 am »
hi there

my twin girls who are 18 months old have recetnly just stopped night feeds - this was actaully an easy process WI/ WO and neither of them gave much of a fight. only thing is that one of the girls started headbanging arounf 16 months and i think the bottle thru the night was helping her settle and only headbang for a few minutes before settling.

now the headbanging as gotten ferocious - its really hard and feels like she is movnig the cot. in our bedroom you can feel the vibration and therefore is waking her sister which is HELL!!

she has been a really independent sleeper with her snuggle and paci/ dummy and i cant work out if she is OT or UT. her sister ios predictable and just drift off to sleep like an angel...always has.

they have never been great sleeper thru'ers but we are getting close....until this.

they seem to have a longer morning and then a shorter afternoon...but still maybe im missing something

there is also early mornigs w headbanging which makes me think OT. ?? i have to go and get her up before she wakes her sister which is ideal as i never kow if she would re-settle if i gave her the opportunity

rountine roughly - i work on a 12 hour day usually

530/ 6am - Awake

1130/12 ish nap for 1.5 - 2.5

and then bed again around 630

sometimes i think coz there is 2 im just evening up the routines to make them fit and maybe she is OT??

any thoughts would be welcome!!

hi there again charli
thanks again for your help.
i have seen that link as i have been googling head banging for a week or two. it just doesnt seem to fit w her personality over all. she is a chilled out little girl. and teeth - well, maybe, but not every night?

all i can think is that her routine needs tweeking. sometimes i think maybe she's bored and not tired enough? and then i flick to OT when i do the maths.

oh well!

thanks - im sure it well go as quickly as it came....

;o)

Well then I think maybe you do need to tweak a bit-if your gut instinct is OT then you need a slightly earlier BT or perhaps a longer wind down? What do you currently do? Xx

Now I know you said loud enough to hear through to the other room, but have you tried some white noise in there to prevent her from waking her sister?

Agree with Charli about the OT. Trust your gut on that and maybe give the earlier bt a try.

thanks. will do early bedtime. i find it hard to wind all three kids down at the same time but love that they all go to bed at the same time. as headbanger is the only twin walking she kinda mucks in w her kindy boy brother and gets revved up. will have a good think about wind down and how to stagger them slightly....or tie kindy boy to bed; he come in to say/sing/ scream good night and then all 3 laugh and laugh like its the funniest joke on earth , ahem. lol

thanks again to u both.
