What tog duvet for first BBB? x.
« on: October 08, 2011, 12:23:39 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place  :-\.

I'm preparing DS Toddler bed ready for the transition. I ordered a George Pig set which came complete with 3.5 Tog Duvet. It feels very thin but when I enquired at Mothercare the assistant told me they sell 4 tog maximum and nothing higher is recommend. I don't think his room will be really cold in the winter and we have a small temperature sensitive radiator for nightime. I'm thinking better cool then too hot and to add a fleece blanket if needed. But I want him to feel cosy so he likes the bed. He has been in a grobag so far.

Watcha think and what do your Lo's have folks  ??? I have already got the special duvet cover and pillow now so I would like to use them.xxx.

I have just got back from buying Alex's first big duvet too!

Both of mine have 4.5 tog. I remember asking my HV when I was buying one for Sophie. She explained it to me along the lines of; a duvet traps warm air underneath it- if there are 2 big adults under it then there is less air so you need a higher tog- for a small child there is loads of space for warm air under it so you only need a low tog. Does that make sense?

Sophie has had her duvet for 3 years and never complained of being cold.

Thanks Hon,

In that case I'll stick with the 3.5 tog with a fleese blanket as extra if needed.
