16 Month old waking early every day between 4am and 5am - HELP
« on: October 20, 2011, 07:46:04 am »
My 16 month old son is waking early every day between 4am and 5am. His cot is in our room still because we have two older children and my wife and I have tried all sorts of things to try and get him to sleep longer but without much luck.  He was a fabulous sleeper as a baby but now even on the darker mornings he is waking early.

He goes to bed at between 6:30 and 7pm

Any advice would be greatly received

Welcome to BW :)
Is your son napping 1 or 2 a day  and what times/how long?
When he wakes early is he happy ready to start the day or clearly still tired and crying bt unable to settle?
Does he generally sleep independently? Ie not rocked/fed to seep?

EW are the pits aren't they! - hang in there :)

PS this thread will be moved to toddler sleep as your LO is over 12 months.

He has one nap in the day for about an hour. When he wakes he is not screaming just chatting away happily.  He has a bottle before bed and goes of to sleep happily. Everything is fine apart from waking early.

Shouldn't really worry I suppose

Do the birds start a chirping around this time? Sometimes these 'outside' noises cue them that is morning! ::) That or there is also a 18mth sleep regression I think...Ill see if I can find the link, though I am unsure if this is to do with napping/BT or EW (or all three)

If he is waking happy from his nap after 1 hr it could be he needs a touch more A time before his nap, or to BT and that he is UT.
What time does he take his nap usually?

Sounds like he is a happy toddler which is lovely. We had EW for a while and they are tough on you more than anything.
