My son is 13 weeks old. And for the past four weeks or so, I've been having issues with cat napping. All the places I've seen say it's just a phaze and he'll grow out of it but he's not growing out of it and it seems to be becoming a habit for him. I'm at my wits end because I have NO time for me during the day and I'm about to freak out. I really need some good sound advice.
First of all, my son is 15 pounds..he's a BIG boy and eats 5 oz of formula about every 2.5 hours. The dr. says it's ok because he's a growing boy, and he's not fat, he's long. Also, he sleeps really well during the night. He goes to sleep around 8 or 9, sleeps till 3 or 4, has a 5 oz bottle is back to sleep and sleeps til 7/7:30.
In the morning, we wake up, have a bottle, play for a bit and then he's ready to go down again an hour later. He sleeps for an hour. This is the same thing every day. And it's fine. It's the rest of the day that I can't handle.
When he gets up from his first nap, he has a bottle. We play and have fun but within about an hour and a half he's ready for another nap. He gets really fussy - like crying as if he's going to die. For a while I thought it might be gas or pains, but the second I swaddle him and stick the soother in his mouth, he's out. I hold him for about 10 minutes and then put him in his bassinet. (I have to hold him because he won't sleep otherwise. Believe me, this has been another battle. At night, he'll fall back asleep almost by himself. During the day, he won't) He sleeps in the same place as he does at night and it's dark and quiet.
Then he'll sleep soundly for about 45-50 minutes - on a good day. Most days though, he's up within 20 minutes. I run ustairs and stick the soother in his mouth to get him back to sleep but he's wide eyed and smiling at me. I know it's going to be a fight to put him back to sleep for him to sleep for only 10 minutes or so. So, we get up, I give him a bottle and an hour and a half later it starts all over again.
I've tried making him wait 2 hours before another nap and give him a bottle beforehand so he has a full tummy in case hunger pains are what is waking him up. Nope. Still up within 30-45 minutes. In the past 4 weeks, I've gotten him to take 2 2 hour naps and I have no idea how.
I'm at my wits end. Running ragged and I need to do something about this. My husband is absolutely no help and I'm basically doing it on my own. Some days I get so frustrated I feel like packing my bags and leaving. I can't do this anymore, I need HELP
