BTDT?

'Been There Done That' :)

Some LO's do naturally needs less sleep than others & lower sleep needs LO's generally always do shorter nights (around 10/10.5hrs usually). I guess it's about trying to understand whether your LO is genuinely lower sleep needs or whether this is a phase/other issues at play....do any of the following Q's strike a chord with you?; Did he transition early to 2 naps/ 1 nap etc. Has he always done shorter nights? Can he handle longer A-times than other LO's his age?

In that case he could well be lower sleep needs.

What time has he generally been napping? What's his A-time after his nap to BT?

Well it used to be about 11.45am a few months ago, but now it is closer  to 12.30pm mark, and will have 1.5 - 2 hours (today had  an hour, odd).

Used to be asleep at 7.30 at the latest, so A time wold be 5.5 hours, but now is asleep by 8.30, so 6.5 hours.

What A time should a 21 month have?  I couldn't find anything for older than 12 months..

I thought if he was going to sleep later, he would sleep in later in the morning.  But he  seems to wake at the same time each day regardless of what time he falls asleep (which is why w2s may work - but scared he would wake for the day if i stirred him at 5.30am) and i am not sure that doing w2s hours before will make a difference?

A-times get harder to pin-point past 12mths as it becomes more about their overall total sleep within a 24hr period.

From my own experience on this board I would say that generally at around 21mths LO's are handling around 5.5/6hrs A-time (of course some can handle more or less than this)

Doing W2S earlier can actually still work as it helps to 're-set' their sleep bio-rhythm. I know a lot of Mum's on here who have had success doing it in the early hours so it might be worth a shot, however, if he is lower sleep needs it *may* not make any difference.

Unfortunately, a later BT doesn't always lead to a later WU...I have the same problem with my DS who always does shorter nights with a later BT  ::)

Why don't you try keeping his nap at 12.30pm regardless of WU & then capping at 1.5hrs then BT for 8pm (asleep by).

BTDT - been there done that :)

Spirited bubs are known for preferring to have their sleep at night and can be hard nap resistors!  Can be tough when they are still so little that they need those naps to get through a day...
