Too much day time sleep?
« on: October 26, 2011, 00:47:16 am »
Hello everyone!
My little girl is 6 mo and sleeps for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. She used to sleep well at night, and has recently stopped. I'm wondering if perhaps this is too much day time sleep for her age and that perhaps this is affecting her nightime sleep?
She doesn't have a cat cap and therefore is awake from about 3:30 or 4 pm until bedtime at 7:30.
Any suggestions as to wether or not this could be the problem?

Between 11:30 - 12:00 - She Wakes up and I feed her. Breastmilk and solids

She's awake until bedtime 7:30 ( we start her bedtime routine at 7:00. No problem going to sleep.

6:30 am - Feed and back to sleep for an hour or hour and a half.

I wonder if she is getting too much day sleep and is therefore not tired enough for a good night sleep. :-\
Her morning A times are very short, more of a 4-5month olds A times and I wonder if that first Nap is being taked on to her night sleep.
How tired is she when you PD at 9.30/10am? I think you could push this nap time out gradually 30mins (10mins at a time every few days) and cap the nap or the other at 1.5 hours. This would  give you a good 3.5hours day sleep and hopefully she will be more tired from the increased A time to sleep at night.
ie
WU 7.30am (eventually it will be 7 with a better sleep)
Nap 10.00-11.30
Nap 2.00-4.00
BT 7pm

Her nights are very short with the long NW, and I do think maybe she is catching up during the day and you have a bit of a cycle...what do you think?
