E.A.S.Y. During the Day...Always have to be in crib? HELP
« on: October 29, 2011, 15:38:04 pm »
Ive been practicing 3 hr EASY with my newborn who will be 3 wks on Tues. so far so good I can see us moving in the right direction. My only q is during the day after his small A time does he always have to go down in his crib in a quiet dim room? Will that get him confused at all with whats night/day? I only ask this because during the day Im pretty much in my living room and he has a swing bouncer and rock n play down here. I know the swing and bouncer are activity so we wouldnt want him to fall asleep in those because of a prop issue...but the rock n play is just a great portable place to nap. Or do i always have to put him in his crib and shush/pat? Id like to step out and leave hubby with him so I really need to know so he doesn't mess us up. LOL

Hello! Sounds like you've got a great sleeper!  :) I wouldn't personally worry about a few naps somewhere else - and definitely take any chance you can get to get out of the house! lol!  ;) don't make the same mistake i did and never leaver your lo with dh until she's nearly 1 and then he really has no clue!  ;D In all seriousness, the name of the game is consistency and moderation. Most naps and obviously bt in the crib and the occasional nap in the car or portable whatever is probably a good thing - lest you end up with an lo that won't nap anywhere but the crib, ykwim? good luck!

Agree with Jaci - DS even slept swaddled on the living room floor at times. At 3 weeks old, I'd not worry too much about some naps being elsewhere - they have to learn to sleep places other than the cot and practice it occasionally - take it from someone who got inflexible about sleeping in the cot at a certain stage and ended up with a baby who refused to sleep anywhere but the cot for a couple of weeks.
