OMG she fell asleep by herself. Got to share the good news
« on: October 31, 2011, 15:02:40 pm »
Lexi is 15 weeks now. we started EASY a few weeks ago, and nap is always our biggest problem. up to the nap this morning, although we have the same wind down routine, she always always fights the nap. She cries and screams, finally falls asleep after exhausted.

I have never been able to put her drowsy but awake because there is no such a moment. I kind of hope like other people said, she would start to fall asleep by herself when she's ready, just like any other milestones. So I never push her too hard and she fell asleep in my arms almost all the time.

Recently, the old way of rocking her asleep didn't work as well as it used to, and I felt like she cried more when I held her. So I decided to put her in the cot and just sit next to her, kind of waiting for her to start crying and I can do the pat-shhhing in the cot, instead of in my arm.

But, surprise surprise. She turned her head and looked around for a few minutes, yawned, and just closed her eyes and fell asleep. Just like an angle!

I'm typing on my mobile right now and she's just slept right through the 45 min jolt.

I'm such a happy mummy. I'm glad I've hold there and didn't give her or myself a hard time. And people are so right on saying that you got to put them in the cot do that they can learn fall asleep by themselves.

Really hope this is not just a one off. fingers crossed!

Yay!!!  At least you know it's possible now even if it is a one off but hope it won't be!

:) I love posts like this...at least if it is a 1 off for now you know she can do it and it gives you lots of confidence to keep going forward. I think you probably timed her A just perfect :) go you! (and her!)
