3 years old - is this a normal age for nightmares/bad dreams?
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:35:30 am »
Henry seems to be having a lot of bad dreams atm. Last night I went to him 4 times before midnight!!  ::)

There is no real time pattern to them although they are usually after midnight. Sometimes he just needs tucking back in but sometimes it takes a while and he tells me he can't sleep.

I think there is OT involved as he has recently dropped his nap.

Just wondered if this is a common age for this sort of thing?

Yes, I think so. My DD was about that age when it started - their imaginations begin to really pick up and then the dreams start. I use tricks like singing a go-away-bad-dream song, or giving her a different pillow, or pretending to chase all the bad dreams out of her room.... it  seems to give her some confidence to go back to sleep.
