Should I change naps or bedtime - 10 months
« on: November 24, 2011, 15:23:54 pm »
DD is 10 months and for the last two months has been sttn and consistently 630am - 630pm. For the last two weeks she has been waking at 5 and I think her naps and daytime sleep must be the issue though I don't think she is ready for 2-1. So at the moment she is napping at 10am for 1.5 hours and 3pm for 45 min/1 hour. She fights this afternoon nap. She seems to cope fine with 4 hour A time now although she still goes to bed at 630/7pm which is only 2.5/3 hr after nap. Do you think this is causing EW? If so what should I change? Should I cut down morning nap? Or should I make bed later?

she's sleeping 12 hrs at night, so it's not an EW.  You could try shifting her day gradually, but if you put her down at 6:30 and she wakes at 6:30, that's a great night of sleep.  Have you tried stretching bedtime a little bit?  If she goes down at 7, will she wake at 7?

Did she shorten the pm nap on her own or have you been waking her to preserve bedtime?  I'd be tempted to try a later bedtime before cutting the nap further.  I'm always hesitant to cut naps and her bt is still relatively early, so what if you did bt at 7?  She might need more A time between naps and that's why she's fighting the pm nap, so maybe do that nap a bit later and bedtime a bit later?
