Quick question about nap ( 26 months spirited)
« on: November 24, 2011, 12:25:10 pm »
What do you normally do to keep your child in his bed at nap time? I keep on taking him back to bed(like a WI/WO)  but he keeps on coming out of his room again and again. It took me 50 mins today. It's ridiculous! He has been resisting nap and BT at home. He routine is fine as far as I can see as he is STTN and he still needs his nap. We can see he is tired but he is just resisting. We don't really have a major problem at BT as DH and I do it together and he doesn't come out of his bed but he still tries to resist it. He also resists nap with DH but he doesn't come out of bed with him. The coming out of his room is a game he plays only with me. Any tips?

TIA xx

Hi hun,

DS has been through this stage with naps many times but he does usually go back to napping if we just keep consistent.
How long has your lo been in a bed? Do you have a stair gate on the door?

Does he have a gro-clock you could set for naps?

If he is treating it like a game then tbh the less contact with you the better so if there was a stair gate I would just put him in his room and then decide on the length of time i.e. 1 hour and leave. Unless he is very upset I would just leave him to it, maybe once he realises there is no contact he will just settle down especially if he does it ok for other people. My lo would get very upset so that was more tricky and then I would do WIWO although he was in a cot the last time this happened so a bit easier.
