Will not stay asleep & is HARD to settle
« on: November 27, 2011, 20:48:59 pm »
My son will not stay asleep and wakes up very upset. He has also started to be very hard to settle and cries which breaks my heart. Dylan will go down around 8 after a feed a wakes up within an hour and almost every hour on the hour till 11 and then periodically throughout the night. He is quite hard to settle when I put him down at first and when he wakes. Would like some advice on settling him. I've tried books and rocking and singing however as soon as he knows it's bed or nap time he tries to turn into me and bury his head. Also hoping for some advice on getting him to stay asleep.

BTW - just stopped swaddling as it was making him even madder.

How old is your child? 7.5 months
What’s his/her daily routine? On EASY with eating every 3.5 - 4 hours and 2 - 3 hours A.
What’s nap routine? morning is not consistent as sister is busy however usually 45 - 1 hour somewhere in there, 1 - 1.5 in the afternoon around 2.
How long are naps? 1 - 1.5 on average
What's bedtime routine? Time? 8 - feed, rock, sleep
Do you bottle or breastfed?? Breast
How much? or how long?
If breastfed.. one side or both?? (at each feed) Depends
How many wakes per night? LOTS
What’s your LO like when waking at night? How long is he/she up? Crying and can take a long time of pick up, put down to go back (sometimes 1 - 2 hours although he usually plays in crib for awhile when it's that long)
When you go to him/her is she fussing or crying? Or is it a mantra cry? Crying
What have you tried to settle?? Pick up/put down
What do you do for A time and how long is it? Play with toys and sister or go out. 2 - 3 hours.
Are there developmental issues such as teething or milestones? Some teething, has a cold.
Have you introduced cereal? Why, how much, and how many times a day? (for LO’s under 6 months)
Do they have a prop? If so what is it?
Do they have a lovie? A blanket I just introduced this week. Seems to like it.

Hi there, can you post your average day in some more detail with EAS format for us to take a look at please. If we can see wake up time, nap times and eating times etc then something might give us a clue.

Do you feed or rock your DS to sleep? Do you still feed him in the night at all and does he have a dummy/paci?
