Have you tried a later bedtime on the days he does nap?

No and to be honest  - I'm ready for him to go to bed at 7!! Been a stressful few months here lately with job stuff and moving and cleaning up rented house, planning wedding etc and I'm physically and mentally exhausted by 7. With DS1 being uber clingy at the moment  - I'm feeling suffocated and I need some space!

See that is what end up happening here.  It got to the point where i was just exhausted from the bedtime nonsense and needed her to be in bed.  My DD1 is full on from the second she opens her eyes to the second she closes them at night.  Never stops moving or talking and i was getting so cross with the bedtime nonsense and then my patience the next day was rubbish as I had no time to myself in the evening and on it went.  Thats when I decided the nap had to go!

We will give the no nap a try - I just feel guilty when he's sitting there whining "I'm tired mummy!"

I'd be honest with him and say 'well I know but the problem is when you sleep in the day you won't go to bed properly at night and we all end up frustrated and cross'.  M knows now there is no sleeping in the day as bedtime is a disaster.  Its tough too as I had to try and keep her amused in the hosue as we couldn't really go anywhere or else she'd sleep in teh car and could't wake telly as she'd fall asleep!!

agree with Shiv, and yes we still have this conversation to this day don't we?!! For me, pushing through the meltdowns and OT is the only way forward, and I've even started investigating every single possible group/activity we can go to within walking distance from my house so we don't get car naps!!
