My little one was napping great (1-2) hours until she started doing 20 or 40 minute naps out of the blue last week (4 weeks to the day after her due date. She was born a week late). She will do 20 min. if she falls asleep in her own bed and 40 if she falls asleep in my arms and I put her down. She will sleep 2+ hours if we hold her (something I don't want to encourage).
Yesterday I started feeding her after she awoke (2-2.5 hours) and I found she took a whole feeding. Perhaps we have a growth spurt problem, but the nap problem has lasted almost two weeks, which seems a little long for a growth spurt. She has been sleeping better at night since increasing nursing.
-Could this be a nursing problem? I wasn't pushing her as hard for full feedings (I think she may have been snacking a little) and her nights are better but naps still aren't improving.
-Is it more likely that she is OT or UT at this point? I often try to put her back down shortly after feeding. We've had a lot of problems with her being OT but she often takes a while to settle. It varies, but she usually has anywhere from 60-100 min. of wake time. She tends to get drowsy while nursing so I interpret that that she is sleepy and try to put her down immediately after nursing although it usually still takes her at least 20 min. to settle.
-Would wake to sleep be appropriate at this age?
Any help would be REALLY appreciated! Thanks!
