10 week old night wakings, need advice
« on: February 07, 2012, 19:17:59 pm »
I am in need of advice. I am a huge baby whisperer fan, I have three children. A 6 year old girl and a 4 year old boy and now a 10 week old baby.

Baby is bottle fed with Emfimil AR and takes zantac from reflux. The medicine has taken care of the problem and he is doing great in that area. He was born full term at 5 13 and has gained good weight since then. He now weighs 11 pounds.
He takes a paci only when napping or sleeping. He sleeps in a fisher-price newborn sleeper bed. He also sleeps in the same room with us and has a sound machine. He also gets swaddled as well during every sleep time.
Daily routine is by the baby whisperer schedule.

7 eat-activity
8 sleep
10 eat-activity
11:30 sleep
1 eat-activity
2:15 sleep
4 eat-activity
5:30 sleep
6 eat cluster
bath
7 sleep
8 cluster feed
11 dream feed

At night time he was doing pretty good and sleeping until 4 and eating then back to sleep until 6-7. But recently he wants to wake early and is up and down from 2-3am until 7. it is horrible. I try to pick up hold and then lay down after falls asleep, this is what I read in the book to do. I also do hush pat as well. He will fall asleep in my arms and then I lay him down and he wakes back up just a few minutes after laying him down.  He also goes down for a nap and wants to wake back up early 30-45 minutes naps and I try to hush pat him back to sleep and it is a work out and will go back to sleep but wakes up shortly after I lay him down. I know he doesn't need the milk in the night because he only takes a ounce or two when we do feed him so we have been trying not to feed him and that is not the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!  ??? ???

He takes 4 ounces of milk each feeding and used dr. browns bottles. He doesn't have a lovie and doesn't seem to be in pain. sometimes he has gas but not everyday.

I'm no expert but when my DS starts to have more night wakings and short naps its from being undertired for naps then overtired at BT. Maybe trying to increase your babies a time may improve things

Thank you Mommymoulton!! I'll try that. He will normally only last an hour before he is worn out, I'll try to get him to go to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Thanks, I will try any advice at this point!!

I would do a smaller increase of maybe only 15min. We usually did it for just the first a time for a few days then both the first and second a time etc. It will help your lo adjust more slowly without getting overtired
