really early wakings getting worse!
« on: February 27, 2012, 06:54:59 am »
Please can anyone help make any adjustments to our routine to get my 2 year 3 month old sleeping longer?

Our days is as follows:
Wake, around 5.25am, however today was 4.45am!!!
Nap- about 12pm, I wake him at 1.15pm after 1.25 hours. Is this a long enough nap, or not long enough? I did used to let him sleep up to 2 hours but have really cut it back due to early wakings, but it hasn't got any better, if anything it is worse. He used to at least on some days sleep until 5.50am, but hasn't done that for about 2-3weeks.
Bed- by 6.45- 7pm.
He doesn't wake at all in the night.

Would really appreciate any suggestions please- I'm shattered and so is he!!
Thanks
Jxx

Have you tried moving BT earlier? I'd say he was OT. And whereas the nap is probably best left capped it may mean that you need a much earlier BT, especially with the EW.

Thank you I will try that then. Do you suggest doing it until he (hopefully) gets back on track with his mornings, and then start pushing it a bit later again? What BT do you suggest please? Say 6.15pm?
Thanks

Yes most likely, although judge it at the time - these toddlers don't like to keep things constant for too long ;)

I think with an EW as early as you had this morning I'd be going for 6pm latest.

You may need to do the early BT for a few nights before you see much of a difference. It generally helps here, but I know it's not for everyone. Although, even if it doesn't give you a later WU (which hopefully it will do) then at least he's had a longer night so is better rested, iyswim.

Thank you, I have got him to bed tonight at 6pm and he has gone straight to sleep. Poor little thing is constantly tired lately, so hopefully it'll do him some good. I'll let you know how it goes after a few days.
