How to handle short naps and days schedule today!
« on: March 19, 2012, 20:13:03 pm »
Not sure if I'll get an answer in time to help today but thought I'd try!  I'm in the process of pushing A times to get longer naps, but in the meantime, this is what I'm stuck with today:

A 6:49
E 7
S 9-9:34
E 11
S 11:34-12:50 (awake for about 20 mins on/off due to nap ext)

My dilemma is how to handle the rest of the day.  Trying to work it so he can go to bed between 7 and 8 and still get enough nap time in, but not too much and not too much A time either!  Thinking I should feed at 2:30 and pd for nap at 2:45 and if short, then go for 4 naps today, but then that willed up with too much A time. Help!  Thanks!

Well, would love to hear suggestions but here is what I did:

A 6:49
E 7
S 9-9:34
E 11
S 11:34-12:50 (awake for about 20 mins on/off due to nap
A
S 2:20-3:26 (woke up at 31 mins so put back to sleep in my arms)
E 3:30
S 5:15-5:55 (woke at 23 mins so put back to sleep in my arms)
E 7
S 7:45
I don't normally let him sleep in my arms but felt today was such a mess that he needed the sleep.  It ended up working out ok and he wasn't too cranky.  Whew! But if anyone has any ideas as to how I could have done it better that would be great!

Hi.  Sorry you weren't able to get any advice from the BW mummies for today.
I'm wondering what your A times were before the increase and if you have increased slowly or quickly?
The short naps look OT, certainly towards the end of the day, so I'm thinking the A may be too much after a short nap?  Or have you considered any other things that could be causing the short naps?  Teething pain?

FWIW I think you did the right thing to extend the nap in your arms, sometimes you just have to get a bit of sleep into them :)

Thanks!  I think the first nap was UT and the rest were OT.  I increased the A time by 10 minutes only and this was day 2.  I did another 10 minute increase today and got a 54 minute nap.  I have another post on this board and Kara said to leave the A time for a coupe of days and see if the naps increase.

Oh, and before, the A time was 2 hrs.  The day turned out ok after all was said and done.  Not great but ok!  Only one brief OT wakeup at 930 pm and then good sleep.  Thanks for your reply!
