short naps but happy? but then OT later! what to do?
« on: June 27, 2012, 00:09:46 am »
so my 12 week old DD and I are trying to get on some sort of routine even though she has reflux. thanks to great advice on these boards we have switched to ESYA because my baby seems to be much more comfortable going to bed nursing, and trying to put her down, only to pick her up when she isn't able to be soothed to sleep aggravates the reflux. so she doesn't know how to put herself to sleep in the cot yet. :(... anyway, we are doing lots of APOP until she grows out of her reflux.

my question is this:i'm trying to extend her naps past the dreaded 45 minute mark. (i've tried wake to sleep and it's not working for her) The interesting thing is though that she wakes happy from most of these cat naps. i try to resettle her and it's not that she is upset, she is just wide awake. cooing and grinning at me. she's usually not interested in nursing (my normal APOP prop) and swaying gently in the dark room with the white noise and her still swaddled just seems to entertain her for a while until she gets antsy and starts letting out her little "i'm bored" sqawk. so i get her up and we adjust her awake time before the next nap. but as the day goes on like this she gets more and more OT and then it's much much harder to get her to go down for naps, even with APOP. by bedtime she's very OT. any ideas for us?

Could you post her routine? Is it possible she needs more A time?
