So lately the patting is pretty ineffective.  It used to work so well but it's not doing us much good anymore unless I've AP'd the the point I'm just keeping her asleep.  Just wondering if anyone else ran into this and what adjustments they made or what they did to help LO settle in crib?  I just am really struggling to help her settle without APOP.

Do you think your routine needs a tweak perhaps? Is the AP a prop now do you think?
Otherwise as LOs get older their sleep can actually be disturbed by the shh pat. This is normally the time to move to pupd, being sure to adapt the technique according to age.

interesting.  We did neither sh/pat or pupd with DD1 so this was new to me.  But it could very well be that she needs a routine tweak and we need to move on past sh/pat as it really isn't working as it used to.
She can really only put herself to sleep about 10% of the time :(  This is an issue as well.

I would try the routine tweak first if you think it might be that as any method will take longer if she is going down UT or OT.
What is her current routine?

OT is the problem. just having such a hard time getting the 2nd nap to be a good one.  I'm sure OS is playing a part but I find OS to be hard to manage. Then by the time BT comes we are spending forever trying to get her to sleep.  But all will quickly work itself out.  perhaps we will try our own version of PUPD since the patting is really getting us no where.  I suppose I expected the patting to work forever. :-\

The good thing about pupd is that the end result is that they put themselves to sleep rather than you doing it with the patting.
