back again!can i put back in a BF?
« on: August 24, 2012, 15:29:32 pm »
ok....so much for my grand plan of weaning!

put LO on formula on the 16th,started slowly with 1oz building up to a 7oz feed on the 22nd.she dropped the DF on the 17th herself, but i had replaced 3 of the other 4 feeds for a bottle of BM. As i said, I gradually built her up to a full formula feed for the 11.30am feed.BUT!it seems she may be allergic to it (aptamil stage1)-not too sure yet  :-\ :-\ :-\ she has a rash on her limbs (i posted elsewhere about it in the hope of some advice) I took her to GP yesterday & she thought it may be food related (i had given her peppers for the first time wed morn & i noticed it had gotten worse by wed ev) It had almost gone this morning first thing. I then gave her a 5oz formula feed (i was trying to build this up to a full formula feed too), gave her solids an hr later, then got her dressed, when i noticed the rash had flared up again. Phoned the GP & she is stumped tbh....not the most knowledgeable!!! she said to keep her off the formula for the weekend & monitor her. (btw-LO is well in every other way according to GP's check yesterday)

SO!after all that info!!here's me q-can i reintroduce a feed first thing in the morning?I have BM forzen but i'm aware that im going through it v quickly & if we do have to swap to another formula,i don't want to have to rush her into it-i'd rather do it gradually again. I always pumped after the monring feed anyway & i've continued to pump until empty each side.the past couple of days i'm getting 3-4 oz on one side & 9-10 oz on the other (my morning boob as i call it). The thing is, i haven't BF her in the morning since Aug 8th. Could i start again?it would be one less feed where i would have to use up some of my stash!!!(I'm still donig the BT feed myself btw)I know then i wouldnt get as much when i am pumping,so would it be a waste of time?!so confused!

Hope all that makes sense!!!

You could definitely reintroduce it as a bf, keeping in mind that your supply make take a few days to build up to where it was -- but since you've been pumping it probably wouldn't take too long to get there.

most obvious thing for a baby to be allergice/sensitive to is dairy - much more so than peppers or any other food tbh.

Ach, what a situation for you to be in xxx

I think it might depend on type of milk protein, but don't quote me on that ;)
