Wake to Sleep - what time
« on: November 13, 2012, 19:43:55 pm »
Hi all,
I have been charting DS sleep and have been thinking about giving WTS a proper go.
His wake up times for the last 8 days are as follows:
5:40
5:05
5:00
5:30
5:11
5:31
4:56
5:45

What time should I try WTS? He is also teething right now his first molars and I medicate before bed. Thinking a dream med around 4:15/4:30 to help him get over the 6 o'clock hour...

Thoughts? Any success with this? DS is very sensitive to OT and I'm working on moving his BT up from 7pm to closer to 6 but proving difficult to get out of work on time and get home in  time... :-\

Can I tag along if you don't mind? Those Wu's sound so familiar! I'm going to give it a go tonight, I'm sure I remember reading its 1 to 1.5 hrs before wu time but my D's can wu any time from 4 onwards!

It is generally an hour before the typical WU time but can be difficult when WUs vary as much as yours. I would try around 4.30 which would work with your meds too.

Same here. He wakes up anytime between 4:45-5:30 and his eyes are still closed but he can't seem to settle jsut slams his legs and throws his head side to side. If I go in and pick him up and rock he'llo go right back to sleep but if I try and put him back down he'll wake up. I will try a 4:30 dream meds and see what we get.

If teething is in the mix, I would be hugely suprised if w2s will kick it . that's nit to say it WON'T, but they are pretty varied and so probably are pain related all bets go out of the window iykwim?

W2s cured out habitual waking but that was bang on the sane time at night. Sounds like yr little isn't saying in the lighter sleep due to pain.

Personally I would medicate and do what you can to extend....

But yep, as pp said, one hr before is golden time. Don't wake fully, I used I gently pull dd sleeping bag until I heard her breathing "catch and change" that's the "reset"

Good luck and hugs

Good luck

If he is already doing a 12hr night then I think you need to push his BT later. W2s won't make him sleep later if he has already had enough sleep. Can you make BT later by 15mins each day or 3?

Oh,you're so lucky to get 12 hrs sleep out of your LO...

I'm lucky to get 10 - he is massively OT. Going to have to work on getting him caught up before tackling the EW's I think...

Babyrose, what time do you normally do BT? Do you APOP him to get him to sleep/back to sleep from NW?

Hi cadies's mum, I started adding on 10 mins then nights got short so I've held it at  12 hr days for now but I will keep trying.

Mattsmummy, I wish it was unbroken 12 hrs! B/time is no later than 5:30, when he wakes at 8:30ish I can get him back to sleep I don't try so hard during the night these days too tired!! What time does your lo go to bed? Does your D's sleep during the day?

But yes my plan is to move our day out and hopefully get a later wu.

Well, ideally his BT would be 6:00/6:30 but in reality it is more like 7:15/7:30.  I know this is a major issue with DS sleeping and I have to address this issue first and foremost.
It will likely involve asking my employer for some patience and consideration when it comes to my working hours... :-[
Hopefully I can get something worked out. I just don't get home in time to get him to bed when I would like to and when I know he needs to...

He sleeps at nursery, usually for 1.5/2 hours but naptime isn't until 12:30/1:00 so it's a HUGE am A time for him and makes the day super long...too long for a 15 month old...

I hope your employer is more considerate with you getting away Im sure it would make a huge difference to your lo's b/time.
Would the nursery not put him down a little earlier?  At least he is getting a reasonable amount of sleep.

Nicola, hopefully if you do the w2s in conjunction with the later BT he will keep the longer night.

I spoke to the nursery yesterday morning about maybe putting him down a bit earlier than the other kids.
When I picked him up last night, she told me he fell asleep at 12:15 and woke at 2:15 on the money.

Had him home and asleep in his crib by 6:50. He woke at 2:00am but went back down very quickly with a cuddle. I was in/out in under 2 min.

But he woke again at 4:55am this morning! He was super cranky and clingy while getting ready and fell asleep in the car on the way to nursery. I drove around so he got the better part of a 40 minute CN in the car this morning.

I hope an earlier BT of 6 or even 6:15 would help him not be so tired and cranky in the morning. Once I get him to 11 or 11.5 hours at night, then I can work on shifting the schedule.

Going to talk to my boss tomorrow about my hours. F's X...
