Need help early wakings with 14 month old
« on: September 20, 2012, 20:40:30 pm »
For about three weeks now my LO has been waking before 6am most days + cant get her back to sleep. Sometimes think i could be teething. Before about three wks ago was waking between 6.30-7am having a capped 30-45min nap 3 hrs after she woke then around an hour uncapped 3hrs when woken from nap then bedtime 4hrs after woken. When the early mornings started I pushed morning nap to 4 hrs awake time which got wakeup to about 6.15am but now getting earlier +last two mornings has been 4.30am (did get her back to sleep for a bit) Last thur I took her to a group didnt seemed tired so stayed longer than have been so had 5 hrs awake time had 50mins sleep then 20min capped nap in afternoon because was at 4pm was in bed asleep by 7pm + slept 12 hrs not sure if it was a one off tho.
Find it difficult to know when to put her dwn for a nap coz she very rarely shows tired signs until in her room with blind dwn + music on so i dont know if im getting timing right but whatever i try cant get a long nap from her anymore!!

Have no idea if ew due to naps, teeth or a phase!?!

Hey there!

I am no expert ( as you will have seen fro
My own post re: this issue!) but my instinct is to query whether your LO might be ready for just 1 nap?

I know my DD followed a Similiar pattern of waking before we got her on to 1 nap. Just a thought. I t
Hope someone with a bit more 'know how' will post some help/ advice soon.

I get the feeling she needs to go to one nap but cant get her to sleep long enough in frst nap to manage on one nap so is tired three hrs later for another nap. She goes to sleep fine + most days asks to go to bed for her nap. Not sure if shes waking slightly from it but unable to go back to sleep. She had 2hrs sleep in car the other day + i saw her wake twic b wen back to sleep.x

My DS is the same age...On one nap a day from 1230-230 capped at 2 hours. And he is now sort of dong EWs... ie wimpering or chattering on and off between 5 and 7am. We have chalked it off to teeth for us, as he has been on one nap a day for almost 2 months.

I do agree with PP, that your LO is clearly headed to one nap. Try pushing the morning A time. For a while when we were transistioning to one nap, our nap fell right over lunch time. from about 11-1 or 1130-2 depending. We just fed half the lunch before the nap and the rest upon wake up. HTH

How long should i push awake time till? Ive tried 4hrs, 4.5hrs,5hrs + 5.5hrs + im lucky if i can get a nap of 1hr. Shes so tired after she needs another sleep 3 hrs later. Did your baby just sleep for a long nap as soon as you pushed the awake time?

Today when i picked her up she had bright red cheeks + a temp so must be teething today. Was asleepwith no fuss by 7pm so will see how tonight goes!!x

I did the stretch of A time gradually. Cant honestly remember how slowly. I think stretching by 5-10min everyday would be a good start. I always try to resettle naps especially if they are under 1 hour.

I have no idea what awake time to start with now. Since moved 1st nap to 5 hrs thur + fri she woke a bit later in morn. Today she was up 5.40am + was asleep at 7pm so dont think i can expect her to have more than 11hrs at night so just got her up. I try to get her to have longer naps she goes quiet + seems to be trying to go back to sleep but cant.x
