Could 1.15 nap be over tired?
« on: October 15, 2012, 11:07:31 am »
I put my nine month old down after 2.40 this morning as she seemed really tired.she was skeep almost before in the cot but then woke up after 1.15 crying. She did the same two days ago and went on to have just one more one hour sleep and then wake up multiple times ay night. I just don't want to have the same thing again today but thought ot was normally just 30 min naps?

It usually is- but as they get older things can muck you around! For example apparently when you are on one nap anything under 2 hours is OT! Weird! I would be guided more by how she is after the nap- crying really upset, or happy to be awake. Have you tried resettling if she wakes up crying? I sometimes will APOP (accidental parenting on purpose) some more nap if my gy wakes up crying- it often works.

Not teeth or other discomfort? This can cause night wakings and nap busting?

I came here to post the exact same question!  My LO is almost 10 months and I've been noticing a trend since about 6/7 months of 1 hour 10-15 min. naps where she will wake up unhappy.  I am wondering if they are OT.

I always thought OT naps were 20/30 mins but maybe not!

It's up to you whether you shorten or not. I never shorten these days (and wouldn't have then) - especially if the nap is over an hour. My guy can handle some OT before bed though- it's about what your LO can manage.
