Tiredness during Activity
« on: October 22, 2012, 06:54:09 am »
Hi, I've finished reading all of the Baby Whisperer book and am about to start the schedule tomorrow for my 10 week old son.

The query I have is that if he is starting to become really tired during Activity time, do I start his nap early and let him sleep early. Or if I put him down for a nap early, do I bring his eat time to match a 1.5 to 2 hour sleep. My main concern is that if I don't let him go for an earlier nap, than he might get overtired and be more difficult to get to sleep during those nap times.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

At his age you are still following cues as much as you can, so if he seems tired, of course put him to bed. You can always take take him to another room or bring another toy when he shows tired signs just in case it's boredom and not tiredness. If he still shows tired signs, then he is tired.
Regarding the feeds when waking up early from naps, it depends on a lot of things. First of all, is he BF or FF? If he is BF then he might not be able to have 3h between feeds and at this age you basically feed when they are hungry, if he is FF maybe you'd be able to stretch him a bit after a short nap. But like with tiredness, if he seems hungry - feed him. My DS was combined BF and FF at this age and he never managed 3h! We were doing more like 2.5h between feeds and even that ws sometimes too much for him :)
