Just wanted to post a quick update, in case this helps someone else.
Well, my DD is just over 4 now and she has finally given her pacis to the 'paci fairy.' Her choice! We have been telling stories about the paci fairy for months. Then, a couple weeks ago, out of nowhere she said "Mommy, Llama Llama (a character in a book) sleeps with no paci! He just has a fuzzy llama. When I give my paci to the paci fairy, I hope she brings me a fuzzy llama!" So we continued to talk, and decided that since she had 2 pacis left, she could give them to the paci fairy one at a time. I wanted her to really understand that once the paci was gone, it would never be back and give her the power to part with the last paci when she's ready. 2 days ago, she gave the paci fairy 1 paci and got her fuzzy llama as a present. This morning, she very confidently gave away her last paci. She was really proud all day. She did not nap, but was happy in her room without it for quiet time (naps are hit or miss these days anyway). Tonight, the paci fairy brought her a Twilight Turtle which she was really excited about. I left her at bedtime with her turtle on so she could look at books and look at the stars (she has been wanting a flashlight so she can read at night anyway), and she was so happy. And guess what?!?! She's asleep! With no paci!!! Now I'm sure we'll have EWs, or NWs for a bit. But I know she can do it and she knows it too and I'm just so happy and proud for her!!!
