Wont go to sleep
« on: December 25, 2012, 18:18:39 pm »
My almost 2 year old is still stuck to the bottle. She wakes up at around 7/7:30 am. She is out until 1:30 and takes a nap when she is home till 3pm. Bedtime is at 6:40ish and she wont go down.
So there are two issues:
1- She takes a bottle to bed with her. She falls asleep with it for the nap and at bedtime she also takes one to bed.
2- For bedtime she drinks the bottle and then cries for ANOTHER! I end up giving in and giving her a smaller bottle and sometimes she falls asleep but most of the time she doesn't.

I want to get rid of the bottle but i'm not sure how and i also know its possible for bedtime she just isnt tired enough, but when i dont give her that nap during the day, she is very cranky and seems to really need the nap.

Every morning her diaper is soaked from all the bottles she is taking at night.
Any advice would be great!

Bedtime is too early hun... I would start by pushing it out to at least 730pm... at 24 months, most are on a 2 hr nap and 13 hr day... so a total of about 13 hrs of sleep (11 night and 2 day)...

As for the bottle - at this age, I would just take it away cold turkey and offer her milk in a sippy.  She is old enough to understand and will be mad for a few days but will move on...   also, this is awful for her teeth - she should be having her last milk, brushing teeth then going to bed.

Ok so i will start keeping her up till later- i just put her in then b.c my son who doesnt take a nap goes in at that time.

As for the bottle- When i offer her milk in a sippy cup- do i offer it in her crib?
And she is used to the formula, she gets milk sometimes but still likes the formula (i know, crazy!)
Thanks so much!

No milk in the crib and no formula in the crib... she should drink it and then be put to bed (after having her teeth brushed if it is night time/BT).

As for formula - no reason to switch her if you don't mind the cost ;)
