Extending A time with Spirited easily OS baby
« on: December 16, 2012, 19:24:13 pm »
Hello,

Quick question. Does any of you ladies have any tips on how to extend the A time with Spirited easily OS baby?

I've been fighting UT/OT loop for almost 5 weeks now.

My 6 month old LO is a very Spirited baby with surprisingly short A time. He gets so easily OS even by playing with his hands. I find impossible to extend his A time and this is causing 45 min nap monster which is causing UT/OT drama on daily basis. He was fine when we where upping his A times in the past and it always was an instant fix for his naps.

This is our EASY from today and it is pretty much as it looks like ever day now.

7.00 wake up and E - milk
8.30 E solids
9.15 S - he start being fussy at 8.30, in bed by 9.10, fall asleep in 5 min followed by 45 min nap
10.30ish - A
11.00 E milk
12.15 E Solids
12.45 S - again 45 min nap
14.00 - snooze for 20 min in buggy (clearly OT)
15.00 E milk
16.00 S - 45min!
by 17.30 he gets really fussy so we bath him and prepare for bedtime
18.30 E milk
19.00 S

Feed at any time between 22.00 and  24.00 (DF never worked for us) and one more feed at any time between 2.00 and 4.00

He wakes up few times at night, sometimes falls asleep straight away, sometimes he needs dummy and his teddy. I know this because he is so OT by bedtime.

I know that he needs more A time but how to do it!? He cries and scratches his face (very disturbing)  if I am trying to extend his A time by even 5 min. Do you have any tips? OR Am I to soft for him? :(

Can you work on getting him caught up on sleep before you try to extend his A times? Or is he ok at the start of each day?

Sometimes a change of scene is good for extending gently at this age. Maybe pick him up and walk around the house to say goodbye to things before his nap?

He is fine every morning, happy and cheerful. Same after every nap, that's why is it so difficult to try to resettle him back to sleep. I've tried everything and I mean everything : rocking him, sling, pat shhh, w2s, etc, even feed him to sleep which we NEVER did before! Nothing works.

I've even tried to fit an extra nap during the day to get him catch up on sleep and after 3 days my hubby found me sobbing by my LO cot saying I can't do this any more! My LO was just not having it.

I've moved his bed time by an hour earlier about 2 weeks ago when he started to wake up at 5am! and that worked well as he wakes up now at 7am.

I'm already caring him around for about half an hour before nap as he is getting fussy and put him to bed when he starts rubbing his eyes or after yawn. I've tried putting him to bed when fussiness start and we had 30 min naps.

Really don't know what else to do :(
